TikTok has confirmed a “potential exploit” that is being used to go after accounts belonging to media organizations and celebrities, including CNN and Paris Hilton, through direct messages.

Malicious code is taking over accounts on TikTok, and has already compromised the official accounts of celebrities and brands, including the official account of CNN, according to sources inside the company. Other accounts affected include Paris Hilton and an official Sony brand account, per the sources.

Hackers have targeted several high-profile TikTok accounts, including that of reality TV star Paris Hilton and CNN.

A TikTok spokesperson told the BBC that while Paris's account, which has over 10.4 million followers, had been targeted, the cyber attackers had not been successful in compromising her account- but confirmed that CNN's account had been breached.
