Intel formally announced the Xeon 6 line of server chips featuring two types of cores and a variety of configurations supporting multiple use cases. But the main emphasis is on AI.

Intel is launching the first wave of next-generation Xeon 6 6700-series processors today, based on Sierra Forest, featuring up to 144 E-Cores.

This series is dubbed "Sierra Forest". There is also Granite Rapids coming later this year - that will have Xeon 6 processors with P-cores instead.

Intel launched its latest generation of Xeon processors. The company said the sixth generation of Xeon processors used in Gaudi 3 clusters will have a much lower price tag than competitors' offerings.

The sixth generation Xeon chips are crucial for Intel, which has been steadily losing data center market share to Advanced Micro Devices (AMD)

At the Computex 2024 AI Everywhere event held in Taipei, Taiwan on Tuesday, Intel unveiled the architecture behind the Lunar Lake processors, meant for the upcoming AI PCs. According to Intel, Lunar Lake offers incredible power efficiency with up to three times more AI compute compared to the current Meteor Lake processors.
