Royal Bank of Canada has named insider Matthew Stopnik head of global investment banking as part of a larger restructuring within the unit, according to a memo seen by Reuters on Monday.

The bank also announced that the dealmaker Vito Sperduto will become head of the U.S. RBC Capital Markets unit, coordinating the region’s different investment banking units as part of a push to grow in a country that Toronto-based RBC calls its “second home market.”

Royal Bank of Canada has adopted a global structure for its investment-banking business and tapped Matthew Stopnik to head up the division.
